Fluoride - Is your smile worth the price?

It may be difficult to believe, but fluoride has been the main ingredient for rat poisons for a good part of 50 years! The same ingredient that reads 'sodium fluoride' on a pack of purpose bought vermin poison is exactly the same as what is found within our drinking water. This compound is an after thought of industry, and is very difficult to get rid of, as it is highly poisonous and disposal costs to convert this compound into something more inert ar prohibitively expensive.

Ins interesting to note that in Europe, this compound is virtually unused, with over 98% of all municipal water being unfluorinated - this in itself has to say something, especially since the decay rate is substantially less than in areas in which this compound is used!

Its now being found that cancer rates have been increasing in direct proportion to how much sodium chloride is used within our water supplies, and also for the period of time in which it has been used. Dr Burk, who was a former chief chemist at the National Cancer Institute, relaesed a study that drew direct correlations between fluoride use and 10,000 cancer deaths per year in the U.S!

Even back in the early 1970's, most of Western Europe rejected using this compound - because after more than a decade of stringent testing, Sweden's Nobel Medical Institute recommended strongly against this practice - hence forth it was outrightly banned!

Again, the Netherlands, with their own independant testing, outlawed the practice in 1976 - after 23 years of in depth testing!

Now France and Germany have also after a substantial amount of testing, have followed suit and rejected upon the basis that the recommended dosage of 1 ppm was "too close to the dose at which long - term damage to the human body is to be expected!"

 These two clips are put together by a man named Christopher Brice, who was an award winning journalist and producer of the BBC. Christopher is responsible for bringing much of what we know about the dangers of fluoride to the fore of consumer interests today.

 Its amazing that with such high levels of opposition on fluorodation by reputable men of science - that it is still allowed!

Between 1957 and 1968 "fluoride was responsible for more damage claims against industry than all 20 (nationally monitored air pollutants) combined. Dr Edward Groth, Senior Scientist, consumer union.

Airborne fluorides have caused more worldwide damage to doestic animals than any other air pollutant" U.S Department of Agriculture, 1970

Even though many claims have been made for the benefits of fluorination, the facts speak for themselves. For example, a U.S. Public Health Service study of Newsburgh, New York, which isone of the first cities in our country to have flourinated water, found that there was more decay afterwards than before.

 In Puerto Rico, after the water was fluoridated for fifteen years, 62% of the children were found to have decayed teeth; and the teeth of 64% of the adolescents (ten to fourteen years old) showed ugly staining .The doctors making the Puerto Rican study pointed out that "no amount of fluoride could make up for an inadequate diet."

An acclaimed researcher A. Schatz has shown via his research that decay and cavities occur at the same rate in the teeth of children regardless if the water has been fluorinated or not.

"It seems to be generally agreed, even by those who claim that it will decrease the amount of cavities, that once the permanent teeth have fully formed and emerged, fluoride intake will have no effect on future cavity incidence."

Here is another example in which Belgium has banned fluoride tablets, and also many chewing gums, as fluoride has been found to be deleterious to health. They state:

"The ministry has made the decision following the results of a comprehensive study that found that excessive use of products containing fluoride leads directly to poisoning, damage to the nervous system, and fosters osteoperosis."
